Hello all, Halfplanet here.
First of all, thanks for following us. We hope we can provide some value with this newsletter, from writing tips all the way to free books and submissions for new anthologies! Most of you are here at the beginning from Phillip Carter, the owner, and the guy writing all the posts.
“I have a few big announcements that cross over with Halfplanet for 2023, mainly my intention to launch an anthology of work for my talk show guests.”
Halfplanet’s goals from here on out are to post high quality writing tips, publishing industry news, free books, and even more writing advice. Our first writing prompt book, 52 WEEKS OF HORROR, is available now on Amazon and will soon cross over onto other platforms. More books in the series will become available throughout 2023 and will be stocked in physical bookstores for a change. It’s going to be a lot of fun.
So here are the discounted books
“As an author and publisher, I enter a handful of bookfunnel promotions each month. I am very selective, and only pick the ones which would appeal to me most as a reader. Today we have a selection of poetry, science fiction, and fantasy books.”
As Halfplanet branches out and publishes more prompt books, you will see a more diverse set of genres available in these giveaways and discount shelves. All of the below links include both experienced and new writers, and you’ll be supporting independent publishers (not just Halfplanet) by clicking on them.
This first link leads to a handful of discounted poetry books, or books which are free on Kindle Unlimited. They may not stay that way forever, and this link expires in 12 hours.
This link lasts a bit longer. The Starships and Cyberpunks deal brings together numerous self-published authors of the weird and wonderful, giving you a unique bookshelf. Of course Who Built The Humans? is in there, as that’s how I gain access to these things!
Next up is New year, Future worlds. This is a collection of writers dealing in the apocalyptic and world-changing. It’s one of my favourite subgenres.
The fourth deal is for free books (on kindle unlimited). This is an eclectic mix of fantasy and sci-fi from authors all around the world. So, if you’re looking to expand your horizons, this is the one to click.
Up last is New year, New attitude. This is a small bookshelf filled with inspiring poetry and a bit of self-help. My own poetry book False Vacuum is in here because it deals with various existential crises, including that time my astral form met up with my future self. Some of these books are free on Kindle Unlimited, whilst others are heavily discounted.
Thanks for checking these out. I hope you enjoyed the deals I have selected for this month’s newsletter.
Want to start your own substack?
“I currently run four separate substacks for different aspects of my life. I was a contestant on the original Lego Masters way back in 2016, and that has for a long time felt as if it was at war with my comedy writing and sci-fi. Ultimately, I’m an entertainer, but I wasn’t building an audience until I moved to substack and created separate publications for the different things I do. This way, I can post Grumblebricks Lego content without alienating people who signed up for jokes about alien abductions. I love substack, which is why I am recommending it as a platform to share your writing on.”
