Hi everyone.
I’m writing this to you on my backup keyboard, so please forgive any typos. It takes ages to go back and fix them, my laptop needs a lot of help right now…
But I’ll sort it out.
I’m posting this early because I don’t know if I’ll have my computer on Friday, and there’s not much point scheduling it because the bookshelf is open now!
Today’s free bookshelf is
DREAM WEAVERS
It’s a fairly balanced collection of Fantasy and SciFi that focuses on smart, resourceful characters overcoming weird things.
Closing date Feb 29th.
Our last free bookshelf was Vault Of Heroes, which closes on Feb 14th
HALFPLANET UPDATES
On top of needing to buy 100 ISBN codes for my next books, I want to get my hands on several hundred promotional business cards and bookmarks, so I can better advertise this page to the public. I’ve designed them myself and I’m quite happy with them.
I want to keep finding and sharing more stories, and the best way to do that is to have more people here who might tell me about some if they find any.
You can do that by the way. Comments are always open.
Some of you may know I founded and chaired Edge Hill University’s Writer’s and Poetics society from 2013 until my graduation in 2017. The soc kept going in my absence, operated by younger students who I first met when they were nervous undergrads at my fresher’s week society meetup. I knew back then they would make great leaders.
I’m right about those sorts of things.
Anyway, I then went on to be a judge at the Edinburgh International Literature Festival for their short story prize, went on Lego Masters, and became a freelance editor and writing coach. I dropped it in 2021 as I had to put more of my time into looking after my family. I’m sort of their comic relief character. When things get dark, they bring me out of the cupboard and I tell jokes.
For authors or aspiring hobbyist writers, I’m bringing back my writing coaching. You’ll soon be able to hire me as a story editor (that’s someone who makes sure a poem or story is engaging) and as a writing coach.
OWNER UPDATE
I’m also polishing up the crowdfundr for WHO KILLED THE HUMANS? the sequel to my debut novelthology of weirdness WHO BUILT THE HUMANS?
It’s live now. I’m already 50,000 words into the book.
Beyond that, I’ve found a PR firm I like after a four-year search, and I’ve relaunched my writing instagram, aptly titled WhoBuiltTheHumans. I’m now using my main one, Realphillipcarter, for my comedy adventures.
